Frequently Asked Questions

An escape room or real escape game is a fun, challenging activity that takes place in an immersive themed environment.  With a group, you will enter your chosen escape room and have 60 minutes to solve puzzles, open locks, and complete the adventure. Escape rooms are highly popular in Asia, Europe, and large metropolitan areas throughout the U.S.

Great! Escape rooms are fantastic for team-building, and we have multiple options available to tailor the experience to your group.  Please email or call us at 707-708-8965 instead of completing the online booking form.

The price is $24 for general admission and $20 for each participant with a current student ID.

Game the Room is a small, family-owned business. We appreciate your booking with us!

Yes! Click here to buy a “generic” gift certificate for a dollar amount (e.g., $100) or a “specific” gift certificate for a certain number of players (e.g., group of 6): http://gametheroom.com/gift-certificates.

We recommend 2-6 players for Skeleton Key and 4-10 players for ESC Key. However, small groups of experienced players may enjoy the added challenge of ESC Key.

We believe that escape rooms are most fun when you get to play with people you know, whether spouses, friends, family, coworkers, friendly dogs, or whoever.*  Once you book a room for your group, no one else will be able to book it for the same time slot. Few other escape rooms offer this option!

*Just kidding – dogs are cute, but no animals, please.

Participants aged 13-17 are welcome as long as there are adult players in your group.  If any player is under age 18, the player’s parent or legal guardian must EITHER (1) come to the escape room with the player to sign their release form OR (2) print and sign the release form in advance.

Are any players younger than 13, or do you want to bring several young teens?  You’ll want to make sure there are adult players who can help them.  We don’t recommend Game the Room for children under age 10.  Please call or email us if you have any questions.

Yes, we offer student discounts! A current, valid student ID is required for all players receiving the student discount.

No problem!  You can add or remove guests when you arrive.

We are happy to reschedule if you call or email us at least 24 hours before your reserved time slot. We apologize for any inconvenience, but due to the nature of our business, we will charge a $40 fee for cancellations or no-shows.

Game the Room is located on the second floor of the building (up 20+ stairs).  Puzzles may require ability to lift light weights (~5 pounds). Most puzzles involve visual clues, and some may involve auditory clues.

We are happy to work with you to try to make the experience as accessible as possible for all members of your group. Please call or email us if you have questions or would like to discuss accommodations (for example, having a staff member in the room).

Yes – we take every precaution to ensure that our escape rooms are exciting but safe.  For your safety, you won’t actually be locked in the room.  We do require all guests to read and sign a release form before entering the room.  We don’t recommend Game the Room for children under age 10.

Escape rooms are about much more than just puzzles: they blend story-telling, exploration, and mystery, creating a unique and fun experience for family and friends.  Of course, many people who like puzzles, role-playing games, mysteries, etc. do enjoy escape rooms, but it’s definitely not a requirement!

No.  Rooms may have a few creepy props, non-functional weapons, or thrilling moments, but there are NO jump scares and we stay away from the haunted house stuff.
